FAQ
What is Forest Bathing / Forest Therapy?

The terms are interchangeable. Essentially it is a slow, quiet walk led by a guide who offers invitations to participants to use their five senses. We sit as much as we walk.

What are the benefits of Forest Therapy?

Being in nature can bring a reduction in stress levels and an increase in immune function. There are numerous studies that attest to this and to other benefits. Here are two:

Effects of Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) and Nature Therapy on Mental Health: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Medical empirical research on forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku): a systematic review

What do I bring to the program?

If you don't want to sit directly on the ground and/or a stone, please bring something to sit on - a lightweight camp seat or foldable stool or towel to sit on. Please be sure it is something that will be easy for you to carry.

Wear layers of clothing so you are warm - wear more warmth than you might for a more vigorous walk.

You may want to bring a water bottle/snack.

How do I prepare for a program?

No special preparation is needed, but preparing an open mind, open heart is always a good idea!
